Written by I hate going to the hospital. I mean I hate going as a visitor. It’s always cold and smells funny and the last time I was there, some machine kept emitting this high pitched irregularly timed beep. I started tapping my hand on my knee in subconscious rhythm to the beep. I didn’t realize how loud I was doing this until two different nurses cleared their throats at me. I know it would be disturbing to the patients if they played soft music, but I can’t see how much more disturbing it would be than the beep. I don’t mind being a patient, mainly because I don’t have to visit myself and I have a hospital plan, so that’s one less thing I have to worry about. Plus, I think I will ask in advance if I can have my own music in my room, or at least be allowed to have earplugs. I don’t know what to do about the smell, though.
