I am scared of basements. I have no idea why, I don’t have any particularly scarring memory attached to basements. The cold and the damp and the smell of laundry detergent and the dim lighting are just terrifying to me. I know this a dreadful and unreasonable fear for a grown person to have, so I set about conquering the fear. I took a long hard look at the individual components of the fear. I couldn’t do anything about the laundry detergent, but I could certainly deal with the lighting. I consulted a few home repair manuals and gathered my supplies, including some wire connectors. I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t need them, but I wanted to be prepared, just in case. I worked all day, and I’m pretty sure I did everything right. I was ready to tackle this fear. I only forgot one thing. I forgot to get light bulbs.
